At least three dead in Russian attack on Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rog

September 21 () –

Authorities in Kryvyi Rog, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reported on Saturday that at least three people have died and three others have been injured in a new attack by the Russian Armed Forces.

Specifically, the victims were a minor aged 12 and two women aged over 70. The local government has not ruled out the possibility that the death toll could rise as there may still be people trapped in the rubble.

“Another terrorist attack in the city. The consequences of the rocket attack in the residential sector of the city are being eliminated. All rescue, community and medical services are involved,” said the head of the city’s Defense Council, Oleksander Vilkul, according to the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.

The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Sergei Lisak, has denounced “another terrible enemy attack against Kryvyi Rog” and has stressed that the Russian troops have attacked “in the middle of the night, when the city was sleeping.”

Lisak added that two private homes caught fire as a result of the impact of the Russian missiles, although emergency services managed to put out the fire. Another 20 homes were damaged and two more were completely destroyed.
