Von der Leyen visits kyiv to once again demonstrate her "help to Ukraine in the face of Russia"

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyenhas announced on the social network X that he has just arrived in kyiv, on his eighth visit to Ukraine.

Von der Leyen said she had come to kyiv at a time when “the time for using energy resources such as heating is approaching and Russia continues to have its sights set on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as one of its key targets.”

The President of the Commission has stressed that always “We will help Ukraine in its courageous efforts and demonstrate Europe’s support”.

This support will be implemented in all areas, “from winter preparations to defence assistance, including accession and the development of loans provided by the G7.”

Von der Leyen is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyand personally announce the new EU support measures to help the country cope with the winter.

The President of the European Commission announced yesterday that 160 million Euros would be allocated to help Ukraine repair its electricity system, which has lost much of its generating capacity in the successive Russian bombings it has suffered this year.

The German politician also explained that, with the help of member states, the Commission will begin to follow the example of countries such as Denmark and order weapons and military equipment “directly from the Ukrainian defence industry.”

Another issue to be discussed will be the $50 billion in loans promised to Ukraine by the G7. with the participation of other entities such as the European Commission.

The President also announced that President Zelensky’s so-called peace plan will be on the agenda. “Next week, the UN General Assembly will have the opportunity to announce important messages and mobilise support, especially from countries in the Global South,” said the Commission President, who travelled to Poland on Thursday to announce €10 billion in aid to European countries affected by the floods.
