Jeane Tsutsui, a cardiologist and current director of the Fleury Group, has established herself as one of the most influential figures in the health sector in Brazil. Since April 2021, Tsutsui has held the position of CEO of one of the most important companies in the country, a position she reached after more than two decades of work and dedication within the same organization.

Under his leadership, Fleury has undergone a transformation and expansion process that has strengthened its presence not only in diagnostic medicine, but also in the creation of an integrated health network. This progress has been driven, in part, by the acquisition of the Pardini Group in 2022, which allowed the company to increase its gross revenue to R$ 7 billion in 2023 and enter key markets in the country.

Tsutsui’s career at Fleury has been marked by constant development and the search for innovation. Since her arrival in 2001 as a cardiologist, her leadership profile has been consolidated in different areas, starting in the research, development and innovation department, which she was invited to join after returning from her postdoctoral studies at the University of Nebraska. The doctor, a graduate in Medicine from the University of São Paulo (USP), not only completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, but also obtained a PhD in cardiology from the same institution. In 2008, she expanded her training with an MBA in Knowledge, Innovation and Technology from FIA/USP, which cemented her interest in the intersection between scientific development and business management.

Tsutsui’s transition from medicine to executive management may seem unusual, but according to her, the connection between both facets of her career lies in innovation. Throughout her career, she has always sought to apply the knowledge generated for the benefit of society, a philosophy that has led the Fleury Group to stand out as a benchmark in the field of diagnostic medicine in Brazil. In fact, in 2021 the company was recognized by Forbes as one of the most innovative worldwide, a mention that reflects the impact of the strategy led by Tsutsui.

One of the most defining moments in her career was when she took over leadership of the research and development area in 2007. During this period, she also led strategic planning for medical specialties, which positioned her as a key player within Fleury’s organizational structure. In 2012, she took on the role of executive medical director, a responsibility she held until 2017, before moving to executive business management in 2018. Her ability to manage both the technical and operational aspects of the company was what ultimately led her to general management.

His academic background, in addition to his studies in medicine and cardiology, includes executive programs at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, such as Harvard Business School, Wharton and the MIT Sloan School of Management. His strategic approach has been fundamental in keeping the company at the forefront of the sector, but also in continuing to grow in an increasingly competitive market.

Under his leadership, Fleury has experienced 30% growth and launched over 400 new products and services. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the company’s digital transformation, and Tsutsui has ensured that the company is aligned with new customer behaviors in this digital age. Fleury’s digital platform has evolved significantly during his tenure, becoming an essential pillar of the group’s expansion and accessibility strategy.

With 96 years of history, Fleury is approaching an important milestone: its centenary. For this significant date, Tsutsui has structured a strategy that aims to make the company more accessible, more integrated and more sustainable. In this regard, the executive has pointed out that the coming years will be marked by greater openness to new services, without neglecting continued growth in diagnostic medicine, which remains the core of the business. Tsutsui has stressed that her goal is for Fleury to not only maintain its leadership position, but also to become a company that efficiently responds to the needs of a changing society, in which health and well-being play an increasingly important role.

Recently, Tsutsui has been recognized by Bloomberg as one of the 500 most influential people in Latin America in 2024, an achievement that underlines his impact not only in the business world, but also in society at large. Tsutsui’s legacy, both at Fleury and in the healthcare sector, is proof of how the intersection of science, management and innovation can transform a company while generating a positive impact on society.
