Eight Vietnamese handicraft exporters present their products at the NY Now exhibition, which takes place in New York (USA) with the participation of some 950 companies from 35 countries.

Products include handcrafted toys, gifts, and household items from natural materials such as reed, rattan, bamboo, wool, and ceramics.

Le Ba Ngoc, Secretary General of the Vietnam Handicrafts Exporters Association (Vietcraft), said Vietnamese handicraft products have been available in 163 countries and territories.

The export earnings of these products have grown by 9.5% a year to reach US$2.2 billion, making them one of the top 10 product groups with the highest export earnings in Vietnam.

The United States is the largest market for Vietnamese handicrafts, accounting for 35% of total export earnings.

Visiting Vietnam’s national booth at the expo, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Delegation to the United Nations (UN) in New York, said he hopes Vietcraft will continue to work closely with Vietnamese representative agencies in the US to expand the market share of Vietnamese handicrafts in the US, contributing to job creation and promoting sustainable rural development in Vietnam.

Export revenues from these products have grown by 9.5% per year, reaching 2,200 million dollars

Vietnam first joined the biannual NY Now exhibition in 2004 as part of a national trade promotion program by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
