Goalthe company behind Facebook, Whatsapp, Oculus or Instagramha announced the launch of a new type of Instagram account aimed at protecting minors who use this social network.
All new Minor users, and also those already registered on Instagram, will be migrated to these “accounts for teenagers”.
All these accountss will be private by default. Among the Privacy enhancements and special settings They highlight the limitation of the content they can access and also the restriction of messages, so that they cannot receive messages from strangers. The same occurs with other interactions, since this type of account cannot be tagged or mentioned by users outside the contact network.
Minors will receive notifications every 60 minutes of use to remind them to leave the application after that time. In addition, they will have sleep mode activated, which deactivates notifications between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., also activating automatic responses to private messages.
These settings can be controlled by parents, as well as the conversation history.
In addition, users under 16 years of age will have to ask their parents or legal guardians for permission to change the settings related to these protections. Remember that the legal age to use the social network starts at 13 years of age.
These changes will begin to apply next week. Initially, they will occur in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. We will have to wait until the end of the year to see these changes come to Spain and the European Union.
