Six people have died in incidents related to monsoon rains on the island of Minadanao in the south of the Philippines, according to a report released Monday by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Four people have died in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao, and two more have died in the Zamboanga Peninsula, according to Philippine television ABS-CBN. Eleven people have also been injured and two more people are missing.
Since Wednesday, flooding has been reported in the southwestern Tagalog region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga and Muslim Mindanao. A total of 337,506 people have been affected and more than 9,600 families have been sheltered in evacuation centres.
In addition, the rains have caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes in recent days following the passage of storm ‘Ferdie’.
