Spain remained in July as the only OECD country with a double-digit unemployment rateof 11.5%, after that of Colombia, which was the other one that also exceeded the 10% threshold in June, fell five tenths, to 9.8%.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) The European Commission published comparative unemployment figures for its member countries in July and explained in a statement that the percentage of unemployed remained unchanged compared to the previous month at 5%.
Spain, where the unemployment rate also did not move in July, was therefore the only one that more than doubled the OECD average for that month.
The closest was Greece, where the percentage of unemployed rose four-tenths from June, the largest relative increase among members that month, to 9.9%.
Colombia, for its part, recorded the largest monthly drop also in relative termsDenmark (four-tenths to 5.8%) and Israel (three-tenths to 2.8%) also experienced significant declines.
In the euro zone, the unemployment rate in July remained stable at 6.4%, which It is a historically low level, the lowest in the OECD series, which began in 2001.
Unemployment rose in the United States (two-tenths to 4.3%) and in Japan (two-tenths to 2.7%).
In absolute figures, the countries with the highest number of unemployed in July were the United States (7.16 million), Spain (2.81 million), Colombia (2.85 million), France (2.33 million), Japan (1.87 million), Mexico (1.66 million), Italy (1.66 million) and Germany (1.53 million).
