Two Indian soldiers, three insurgents killed in clashes ahead of Modi's arrival in Kashmir

September 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Indian authorities reported on Saturday that two army soldiers and three insurgents were killed in a series of incidents in Indian-controlled Kashmir shortly before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a campaign event ahead of local elections, which begin on September 18.

The Indian Armed Forces have indicated that the shooting took place in the Kishtwar district and have paid tribute to the “supreme sacrifice” of the “brave” soldiers, according to a message posted on their account on the social network X.

They said two other soldiers were injured and had to be taken to a local hospital.

Three suspected insurgents were killed in a clash with security forces in Baramulla, northern Jammu and Kashmir, as the army was carrying out an operation, according to reports reported by television channel NDTV.

Authorities have put in place extensive security in the districts of Doda and Kishtwar to ensure order during Modi’s visit, especially during the rally.
