And consoles? Xbox shows off Smart TV, PC and mobile devices in new promo for its gaming ecosystem

Xbox and its gaming ecosystem

While Microsoft remains committed to consoles – there will in fact be more Xbox Series X|S models this year than ever before – it feels like this type of hardware is being relegated to the back burner in marketing and sales in favour of the concept of a gaming ecosystem. An example of this is its recent promotional material where the company shows off all the places you can play Xbox but doesn’t include its own consoles, not even the controller.

Xbox Series X|S does not appear in the new Xbox ecosystem promo

A publication by the renowned journalist The Verge Tom Warren showed the new promotional material of Xbox where it highlights the devices from which you can access its gaming ecosystem. In the image you can see a Smart TV, remember the recently arrived Xbox Game Pass support for Fire Stick TV (as well as the agreement with Samsung), a smartphone, a laptop, a monitor that is usually used on PC and a new member: portable gaming devices such as Steam Deck, ASUS Rog Ally and MSI Claw.

Xbox and its gaming ecosystem

While the advancement of the Xbox gaming ecosystem and its presence in more sectors is notable, so is the absence of any reference to its current line of consoles, Xbox Series X|S, as this material does not even include an official controller.

According to estimates, since Microsoft does not share sales numbers, Xbox Series X|S sales are around 30 million units, however, each quarter sees increasingly larger declines in console sales and this part of the business does not deliver good numbers. Currently, Xbox’s financial strength lies in the services sector, video game sales, and content, something that has recently transcended thanks to Activision Blizzard King’s numbers.

Despite the fact that the results of Xbox Series X|S were not as expected, Microsoft is not taking its finger off the line and is already working on the new console which, according to recently published vacancies, will redefine graphics in this market.
