Apple is considering making the leap in its production outside of China. Specifically, the Cupertino company is in talks to manufacture the laptops macbook and smartwatches Apple Watch to another Asian country, Vietnam.
If the operation were carried out, it would be the first time that the apple company would manufacture in this country, initiating a transition to rely less on China and your government when manufacturing your devices. Traditionally, Apple has depended on that country for the manufacture of practically its entire catalog, but now a change in trend is beginning to be seen.
According to the portal NikkeiFoxconn and Luxshare Precision Industry, two of Apple’s main suppliers, have begun testing component manufacturing in Vietnam, marking the first time these devices are not made in China.
However, Vietnam is not a foreign country for the manufacture of Apple devices: the company has one of its main production centers in that country. In fact, the iPads and AirPods are already made in the Southeast Asian country. However, manufacturing an Apple Watch requires more advanced processes due to the miniaturization of components, and making the leap to facilities in another country is a more drastic change.
Other devices that are also scheduled to migrate their production to Vietnam are the HomePod smart speakers.
