The Israeli army on Tuesday released a video of a Hamas tunnel in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, where six hostages were found dead by Israeli forces.
In the video, army spokesman Daniel Hagari climbs down a rope into a tunnel 20 metres underground in a child’s room in a Gazan house. “We know that between two and six terrorists were here with the hostages,” he explains.
Hagari claims that the Hamas militants “executed” the hostages in this 120-metre-long tunnel. “They were in this tunnel in horrible conditions where there was no air to breathe and where one could not stand up,” he says.
The video, which shows objects used during the hostages’ captivity, was recently shown to the hostages’ families as well as members of the Israeli cabinet, The Times of Israel reported.
Israeli forces have found the bodies of six hostages, including an Israeli-American citizen, who remained in Hamas’s hands after being kidnapped during the Supernova electronic music festival on October 7.
Elhanan Danino, the father of one of the hostages, Uri Danino, had a tense conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of being more concerned about his political survival than the future of the country, according to recordings broadcast by Israeli media.
