The Israeli army on Tuesday carried out new bombings against “military buildings” allegedly belonging to the Shiite militia-party Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, amid clashes that have been raging for more than eleven months since the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions.
“During the night, IDF fighter jets attacked Hezbollah military buildings in the areas of Aita al-Chaab, Khiam and Naqura in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli military said on its website, confirming a mortar attack on Naqura, with no reports of casualties.
Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed group that wields significant military and political clout in Lebanon, have intensified in recent weeks, raising fears of a possible expansion of the conflict into the Middle East.
In this context, the Israeli Army presented its “operational plans” regarding Lebanon to the US Army on Monday, during a meeting between the Chief of Staff of the Army, Herzi Halevi, and the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Eric Kurilla, in which they discussed the situation in the country, “with an emphasis on the northern scenario, from Lebanon to Iran.”
