The Israeli Army reports that this is an operation against Hamas “terrorists” “camouflaged” in the area
September 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Gaza Strip Civil Defense has reported at least 40 Palestinians dead and another 70 wounded after an Israeli army bombardment of Mawasi, a designated humanitarian zone in the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, against alleged “camouflaged” positions of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
“Air Force fighter jets recently attacked, under the direction of the Shin Bet, AMAN (Military Intelligence Directorate) and the Southern Command, terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization operating out of a camouflaged command and control complex in the humanitarian zone of Khan Yunis. The terrorists instigated and carried out terrorist plots against IDF forces and citizens of Israel,” reads an IDF statement posted on its social media account X.
They also said that “many measures have been taken to reduce the possibility of harming civilians” such as the use of precision weapons, aerial surveillance and intelligence information.
The IDF also denounced that this incident is “another example of the systematic use by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip of the civilian population and infrastructure, including humanitarian space” to carry out their activities.
On the other hand, local sources consulted by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastín’ have reported that some 20 tents located in the area “have completely disappeared” and that “entire families” have been buried under the sand in what they describe as a new “massacre.”
Israel launched a brutal offensive against the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas attacks on October 7, which left 1,200 people dead and 240 kidnapped. Since then, Gazan authorities have recorded the deaths of nearly 41,000 Palestinians, with more than 690 killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israeli security forces and settlers.
