Romania reports violation of its airspace by another Russian unmanned aerial vehicle
September 9 () –
Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics on Sunday denounced the downing of a Russian military drone in the east of the country on the same day that Romania reported the violation of its airspace by another unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Russian Army.
“A Russian military drone crashed yesterday in the eastern part of Latvia. An investigation is underway. We are in close contact with our allies,” Rinkevics said on his X social media account.
He said that incidents of this type along NATO’s eastern flank “are increasing” and that he asked the Allies to address the situation “collectively.”
Meanwhile, the Romanian Foreign Ministry has said that a “criminal Russian drone” has violated the country’s airspace throughout the day to attack Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
The ministry has condemned the events and has asked Russia to stop its “reckless escalation”, which it has already informed its allies and NATO, with whom it is in “close coordination”.
