Kim Jong Un visits military facilities in North Korea ahead of regime anniversary

North Korean regime launches garbage balloons towards South Korea for fifth consecutive day

September 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has visited several military installations after several weeks in which his regime appeared more focused on recovering the north from devastating floods.

Kim had reduced his military profile in the meantime and has resumed it before the regime commemorates the anniversary of its founding on Monday, although the official note did not clarify the date of the visit. Among the facilities inspected was a shipyard and a munitions factory, according to the KCNA agency.

Kim used the visit to defend the importance of the naval industry as a way of “defending maritime sovereignty and accelerating preparations for war.”

Meanwhile, North Korean authorities have again launched balloons with rubbish towards South Korea on Sunday, for the fifth consecutive day. Thousands of balloons have been launched since the end of May, although Pyongyang stopped this practice in mid-August.
