Nowadays, acquiring tools for managing emotions has become a necessity in the face of the growing prevalence of mental health illnesses. A phenomenon that, according to the latest survey by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, has affected 66.3% of Colombians. The increasing prevalence of disorders such as anxiety, stress and depression, exacerbated by factors such as economic uncertainty and social pressure, has made mental health a central issue in the lives of millions of people. In addition, frustration in the constant search for success generates greater pressure, especially in the field of entrepreneurship, since entrepreneurs face not only the uncertainty inherent in their projects, but also the need to meet external expectations, which can trigger chronic stress and emotional disorders, a problem that is exacerbated in a context where more and more people decide to start their own business.
Faced with this reality that affects millions of people, Daniel Restrepo, a young Colombian lawyer passionate about entrepreneurship, has decided to create a podcast dedicated to providing tools that allow entrepreneurs and anyone who needs it to manage their emotions and strengthen their mental well-being. This is “We have to talk”, an initiative that, with the help of experts in psychology, personal development, integrative doctors, among others, addresses a wide range of topics ranging from stress and anxiety management to the importance of self-care and emotional resilience.

With more than 47,000 plays on Spotify, “We have to talk” has become a space of support and learning for many. Since in addition to having experts in mental health, it has had the participation of renowned businessmen, politicians, athletes and Influencers such as Carlos Raúl Yepes, former president of Bancolombia; Álvaro Rodríguez, president of Ventura Group and investor in Shark Tank; the model and presenter, Toya Montoya; the political scientist, Martín Santos; the former director of DANE, Juan Daniel Oviedo; and the skater, Chechi Baena, inter alia.
“Entrepreneurship is not limited to business alone; any goal that a person sets for themselves, whether it is starting a sports career, entering politics or venturing into any other industry, is an act of entrepreneurship. That is why, through the stories of great experts in mental health and the life stories of well-known people, we seek to make listeners feel identified and understand that, like everyone else, they can face difficult times, but with the right tools, it is possible to build a path towards comprehensive well-being,” Daniel Restrepo points out.
It also highlights the importance of managing emotions to prevent the development of mental health problems. Therefore, in each episode of “We Need to Talk,” they explore concrete tools that listeners can apply in their daily lives, whether to improve their mental well-being or to face the emotional challenges that entrepreneurship entails.
Restrepo, who is originally from Antioquia, is a born entrepreneur who has developed various businesses, including Conexión: Entrepreneur Summit, a large-scale event that seeks to connect all the actors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Latin America. His immersion in the world of entrepreneurship allowed him to closely observe the frustrations and mental disorders that can affect those who seek to make their way in this field. That is why he decided to create this renowned podcast, which can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.
