At least five Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike in Tubas, West Bank

September 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least five Palestinians have been killed and one injured in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the West Bank town of Tubas, an operation that is part of an increase in its “anti-terror” activities in the region over the past week.

Medical sources have confirmed to Palestinian news agency WAFA that the deceased – identified as Muhamad Zakaria Zubeidi, Ahmad Fawaz Abu Dawas, Muhamad Awad al Aidi, Qusay Abdul Razek and Muhamad Bani Ghara – were in the same vehicle, as was the injured man.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on its social media account X that it has carried out three airstrikes against “armed terrorists” in the Tubas region, an operation about which it will provide details later.

The bombing occurred as Israeli troops raided the Fara refugee camp south of Tubas, where a Palestinian was shot and wounded.

Hours earlier, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a press conference that while Israel has a “legitimate right” to conduct anti-terrorist operations in the West Bank, these must be in accordance with human rights.

He also said Israel should not take any action that would increase instability in the West Bank or add to the fighting in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.

In parallel to the attacks on the Gaza Strip that have left more than 40,860 dead, Israel has also intensified its operations against the West Bank, in which more than 680 Palestinians have already died.
