GoPro's new HERO cameras arrive with interchangeable magnetic lenses and a smaller version

September 4 (Portaltic/EP) –

GoPro has unveiled its new HERO action cameras, with the HERO13 Black models, which come with four interchangeable magnetic auto-sensing lens options, and HERO, the company’s smallest 4K action camera.

The technology company has unveiled its new generation of action cameras, which are inspired by and built for the GoPro community and include new features based on users’ needs and favorite technologies for recording all types of content.

GoPro has introduced the new HERO13 Black camera, which maintains the features of its previous model, HERO12 Black, such as recording in 5.3K resolution and HyperSmooth stabilization. However, it also introduces new features such as improvements to the Enduro battery, which has been redesigned to increase its capacity by up to 10 percent, reaching 1,900 mAh. This allows for extended usage time in any weather conditions with up to an hour and a half of continuous recording.

The new version also adds the ability to record in 13x slow motion burst, allowing you to capture images at up to 400 frames per second in 720p HD quality video, as well as 5.3K resolution at 120 frames per second and 900p at 360 frames per second.

Along these lines, as GoPro has detailed in a statement, the HERO13 Black includes the professional-level HLG hybrid range, which allows for standard 10-bit transmission, recording of 2,100 color spaces, and a wider range of colors than just those included in HDR.

It also features faster Wi-Fi 6, which speeds up content transfer by up to 40 percent. It also integrates GPS with tracking information on speed, route, terrain, altitude and force.

HERO BLACK INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES

In addition to all this, GoPro has highlighted the possibilities offered by this renewed camera with the integration of the new HERO Black (HB) lenses. Specifically, it is a set of four interchangeable magnetic lenses that the camera automatically detects for comfortable use in any situation.

Specifically, these lenses consist of, on the one hand, an ultra-wide-angle sensor, which allows you to capture more in each shot thanks to its 177ยบ field of view and 1:1 aspect ratio. Along these lines, a macro lens with variable focus is also offered, so that it allows you to capture objects at a distance and objects that can be “up to four times closer” than the standard GoPro lens. This variable focus can be adjusted manually with a ring that surrounds the lens.

It also includes an anamorphic lens to, according to the company, capture artistic content with less distortion than traditional wide-angle perspectives, with a dramatic 21:9 aspect ratio. This lens set is completed with an ND Filter 4-Pack, which includes four neutral density (ND) filters that create cinematic motion distortion.

This way, thanks to the magnetic clip mount, users can quickly switch between lens types when recording, as they are instantly attached to the camera and the device automatically recognises the lens type. In addition, all lenses are compatible with HyperSmooth stabilisation and are waterproof.

GoPro has specified that all lenses are sold separately, and have been launched for 109.99 euros for the ultra wide-angle lens, 139.99 euros for the macro and anamorphic lenses and 79.99 euros for the ND Filter 4-Pack, which will be available in 2025. For its part, the GoPro HERO13 Black camera has been launched for 449.99 euros.

HERO: THE SMALLEST 4K ACTION CAMERA

GoPro has also introduced its new HERO camera, the company’s smallest and lightest 4K camera with a screen to date. This model has an ultra-compact design, as its volume has been reduced by 35 percent, and weighs only 86g.

The new HERO also features an intuitive touchscreen and lets you switch modes with the push of a button. It also maintains the ruggedness characteristic of GoPro cameras, as it is fully submersible up to 5 m deep and is designed to be shockproof.

In terms of image capture capabilities, the HERO camera can record Ultra HD 4K and HD 1080p video, as well as take 12MP photos. It can also capture landscape video optimized for YouTube, with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

This new camera also includes HyperSmooth video stabilization with the Quik app and ensures long-lasting autonomy, with a battery that allows continuous recording for 60 minutes on a single charge.

GoPro has now made the new small HERO camera available to users for 229.99 euros, which will be available on September 22.
