Here’s how to transfer your playlists from Apple Music to YouTube Music, and vice versa

Aug. 31 (Portaltic/EP) –

Apple Music and YouTube Music Since this week, they have allowed the transfer of playlists between their services, a possibility limited to the songs available and which requires having an active account in both.

Switching streaming services can mean losing the playlists you’ve created, sometimes spending a lot of time trying to fit them with specific times of day — like working out, commuting to and from work, cleaning the house, or even moods.

Apple and Google are trying to avoid this situation with the new export tool. It is an addition to the one currently available that allows transferring photos and videos between iTunes and Google Photos, only now it also performs a copy of the songs to take to the other music service.

FROM APPLE MUSIC TO YOUTUBE MUSIC

In order to transfer the playlist from Apple Music to YouTubeThe first thing is to make sure that you have an active account in both services, since you are required to log in to them.

If we start with Apple Music as the source, the first thing to do is go to the section ‘Data and Privacy’ and log in to your Apple ID account. Once done, you can select the option ‘Transfer a copy of your data’ and choose the Apple Music button.

In order for the transfer to take place, it is also necessary to log into the YouTube Music account. The process guides the user in a very straightforward manner. It can take a few minutes or several hours to complete, depending on the number of playlists the user wants to move from one service to another.

Once completed, the user receives an email confirming the complete transfer of the playlists.

FROM YOUTUBE MUSIC TO APPLE MUSIC

The opposite process is also possible, that is, users can transfer the lists they have created in YouTube Music to Apple MusicThis case also requires an active subscription to both services.

In this case, the user has to go to Google Takeoutthe Google service that facilitates the export of data from its services, and go down the list until you find the YouTube Music option.

You need to make sure that only this option is selected, because Takeout may check all services by default. Once checked, the next step is to choose the destination service (Apple Music) and sign in with your Apple ID account.

To allow the transfer, you need to accept the permission that Google asks for to share data with Apple Music. Once done, the process will begin, which again can take a few minutes or several hours. When it is complete, you will also receive a notification in your email.

COPYING PLAYLISTS

User-created playlists will appear on the target service. However, this process It depends on whether the songs included in them are available in both services so that they can be replicated.

This means that if Apple Music or YouTube Music does not have any songs in the playlists that have been transferred, they will not be displayed. It may also happen that the playlists have more songs than allowed in the destination, and therefore some are missing, in order to meet the limit.

The transfer of the lists It doesn’t mean that they are deleted on the source service. But if the user updates the list in Apple Music, for example, this change will not be reflected in the same list on YouTube Music, because there is no synchronization between the two.
