Former Australian nursery school worker pleads guilty to abusing 60 girls over nearly 20 years

September 2 () –

Former Australian nursery school worker Ashley Paul Griffith has pleaded guilty to a total of 307 criminal charges of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation involving around 60 girls in Australia and Italy between 2003 and 2022.

Griffith is being prosecuted in a court in the Australian state of Brisbane, Queensland, before which he appeared on Monday, according to Australian public television ABC.

The court could take more than two days to read out the verdict, a preliminary step to sentencing the 45-year-old man.

Griffith was arrested in August 2022 for child exploitation by possession of paedophile material. He was later charged with more than 1,400 counts, including dozens of rapes after evidence was discovered on the suspect’s electronic devices. However, the final charge sheet was drastically reduced.

The charges include 190 counts of indecent assault, 28 counts of rape, 67 counts of possession of child exploitation material, four counts of producing child abuse material outside Australia and 15 counts of repeated sexual conduct with a child.
