"There is no motive" behind the crime

The 17-year-old teenager who murdered his parents and younger brother on Sunday at the family home near Milan (northern Italy) has confessed that he had “no real motive” for committing the crime.

“There is no real reason why I killed them”the young man declared during the interrogation he underwent 12 hours after the events and in which he confessed to having stabbed his father, his mother and his brother in the family home in Paderno Dugnano, local media revealed on Monday.

The minor felt like a “foreign body” within the family, which “oppressed” him. and thought that with the death of everyone he would have “been freed from this annoyance,” as he revealed to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office and the Carabineros (militarized police). However, “I realized a minute later that killing them wouldn’t free me.”he said, in statements collected by Efe.

According to police reports, the teenager grabbed a knife from the kitchen in the early hours of Sunday morning, while everyone was asleep: he first killed his 12-year-old brother and then his parents.

He then called 112 himself, claiming that he had stabbed his father after the father had killed his mother and brother, although during the police interrogation he changed his story and confessed to the crime.

According to the same sources, it was a long and complicated interrogation, which was interrupted on several occasions by the crying of the confessed murderer.

The phone she used to call the emergency services and the knife have been collected as evidence in the murder investigation.

The day before the crimeon Saturday afternoon, The family celebrated the father’s 51st birthday together with the maternal grandparents and paternal grandmotherwho assured that during the celebration everything had been “normal.”

“Nothing special happened on Saturday afternoon. But I had been thinking about it for a while, it was something that had been brewing,” the detainee said.

The young man had no apparent problems, either at home or with his friends, but he felt that “he did not have a real conversation with anyone” and that no one understood him, he told police, according to Italian media.

Investigators who have spoken to him say he seems like a smart kid.perhaps more than average, and his confession seems authentic, according to sources.
