With a name that surely sounds familiar to many, DIGI is an operator low cost which has won over thousands of Spaniards. With the idea of continuing to improve for the future, the company is about to take a great leap.
One of DIGI’s main objectives is launch its own pay-TV service in SpainThis initiative, which has already been a resounding success in Romania, will allow its customers to watch all kinds of channels and content at a price that will surely win over more than one, thus also following the lead of other operators such as Movistar, Orange or Vodafone.
On the other hand, is also working on building its own mobile networkUltimately, having your own mobile network means greater control over the quality of service, the ability to innovate and the possibility of offering more competitive rates.
DIGI, like other virtual operators, has so far been dependent on other operators’ networks, which has ultimately limited its expansion. All of this is happening gradually.
Thanks to the purchase of 60 Hz and the agreement with Telefónica, the company will have access to greater network capacity and will be able to offer high-speed services such as 5G. In addition, sharing infrastructure with Telefónica will allow DIGI to accelerate the deployment of its network and reduce investment costs.
Can DIGI break the telecommunications duopoly in Spain?
Considering that the reign of Movistar and Vodafone is quite problematic for this type of companies, DIGI has proven to be a strong competitor, offering cheaper rates and more personalized customer service that has delighted many.
However, these two giants have maintained a dominant position for years, setting the rules of the game and leaving little room for other smaller operators to maneuver, so the situation is complex.
These two major improvements could certainly position to DIGI This is a very interesting point for new customers, and one that could gradually change the rules of the game. For now, we will have to wait and see.
