September 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah confirmed on Sunday night the death of one of its members in Israeli army bombings against southern Lebanon, which were carried out just a few hours after the launching of a rocket against Israeli territory left three wounded.
“The Islamic Resistance mourns the martyrdom of mujahideen Hussein Ahmed al Mussawi ‘Maytham al Sayed’, born in 1996 in the town of Nabi Sheet in the Bekaa Valley, who was martyred on the road to Jerusalem,” reads a Hezbollah statement shared by the Lebanese television channel Al Manar, which is close to the Islamist group.
Shortly before, the Israeli army had reported numerous strikes against Hezbollah launching pads and military installations on Lebanese territory, in particular in Eita al Shaab, Beit Laif, Al Taiba, Al Adaisa, Bin Yabal, Kfer Shoba and the Sheeba farms.
Prior to that, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had confirmed at least 30 launches coming from Lebanese territory, while Hezbollah has claimed to have launched rockets against a military facility of the 8200th Intelligence Battalion in Metat and other targets in Kfar Yuval and Al Samaka.
The Israeli military and Lebanese Hezbollah have been engaged in an escalation of cross-border shelling and shooting since 7 October, when Palestinian militants from Gaza attacked Israeli territory, killing around 1,200 people. More than 40,000 Palestinians have since been killed in retaliatory attacks.
