Israeli police investigate officer for alleged assault on hostage’s sister

September 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Israeli police have opened an investigation into an alleged assault by a mounted police officer on the sister of a hostage held by Hamas in Gaza during a protest in Tel Aviv.

The protester, Natalie Zangauker, sister of hostage Matan Zangauker, was taking part in a protest against the government this past Saturday to demand a ceasefire that would guarantee the release of the hostages when the officer encouraged his horse to run over the young woman from behind, who had to be hospitalised with bruises.

The incident was recorded on video by protesters and the footage will be used in the investigation that the police’s Internal Investigations Department has launched, the Times of Israel reports.
