ECLAC organizes exchange meeting between provincial authorities of Argentina and CORFO on multilevel productive development policies aimed at territories

In order to generate a space for exchange and reflection on the role played by multilevel coordination in the design and implementation of industrial, technological and financial policies, oriented to the territories, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Together with the Ministry of Economy, Productive Development and Agriculture of Argentina, the Chilean Production Development Corporation (CORFO), and the support and financing of the European Union, organize this August 9, at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago from Chile, a meeting with provincial authorities from Argentina and CORFO managers.

The event will include words of welcome from the Executive Secretary ai of ECLAC, Mario Cimoli, and Mercedes Marcó del Pont, Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Argentine Nation, and with presentations by Tomás Canosa, Undersecretary for SMEs of the Ministry of Economy, Productive Development, and Agriculture of Argentina and María Angélica Vega, Deputy Manager of Regions of CORFO. In addition, representatives from the provinces of San Juan, Misiones, Corrientes, Salta, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands, La Rioja and Tucumán, authorities from ECLAC, the European Union and the Chilean Production Development Corporation (CORFO).

This instance of exchange and reflection between different actors is carried out within the framework of the project “Productive development and spatial heterogeneity in Latin America: institutions and capacity development in the programming and implementation of regional productive policies”, coordinated by ECLAC, together with the Ministry of Economy, Productive Development and Agriculture of Argentina, with the support and financing of the European Union.

The first part of the workshop will focus on discussing some experiences of multilevel articulation that have fostered productive development at the territorial level in provinces of Argentina and how this approach has improved coordination between the national government and subnational governments. In the second part of the meeting, CORFO will present part of its experience in territorial economic development and lessons learned, instruments and good practices will be exchanged regarding the promotion of these processes, with the aim of generating an agenda for productive transformation.
