Windows 11 will let you search for whatever you want in video and audio files

On more than one occasion, we have had to watch a long video just to find a specific part that interested us, taking up quite a bit of time along the way.

Artificial intelligence could help us in this regard, and the latest preview version for Windows 11 has shown a new feature called “intelligent media search” and that will allow you to search for any specific part or phrase within a video or audio.

If you have a video about a marketing course, but you are only interested in the sales part to the final consumer, you can tell Windows 11 that specifically searches for that phrase or topic within the video so that you don’t have to waste time watching almost the entire video.

This will allow you to find any reference that interests you within an audio or video stored in Windows 11, saving us a lot of time along the way.

It should be noted that once this intelligent multimedia search functionality is enabled, Windows 11 will perform a pre-configuration by setting up an AI model and transcribing all media files.

After that, the system will notify us that it is ready to perform a content-based search on stored multimedia files.

“Search for spoken words in your indexed audio or video files. By clicking “I agree”, you agree to scan the media files on your device. If necessary, the required model will be downloaded and installed in the background. Your media files are being processed. Once the AI model is set up, it needs to transcribe your media files and index them before enabling content-based search. We will let you know once the process is complete.”

It is unknown whether this new feature will be exclusive to PCs with Copilot+, although Windows 11 already has some AI-based functionality on traditional systems with AMD and Intel processors.

This is, without a doubt, a very important feature that can save us a lot of time if we want to search for specific content on our computer, and in the future also in local audio and video files.
