One of the most striking features of the new Ryzen 9000 is the energy efficiency of these chips based on the architecture Zen 5allowing CPUs like the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X to arrive with a TDP of only 65W.
Now, MSI, after already launching various optimizations to increase the power of these chips, has launched a new BIOS for motherboards with 600 chipset like the X670E with which you can activate a special mode that raises the TDP up to 105 W. When activated, the results show around 13% more performance.
This TDP is below the 120W of more powerful variants such as the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X and previous generations, so it should not put too much stress on this SoC as long as it is accompanied by adequate cooling.
It is currently unknown whether this feature is something AMD will include in the next version of the AGESA firmware or if it will remain as a quick feature integrated into MSI motherboards to give these processors a performance boost. It appears to be compatible with the aforementioned Ryzen 7 9700X and also the Ryzen 5 9600X.
