Israel responds to Hezbollah by attacking Marjaoun (Lebanon) amid escalating tensions

Aug. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked the town of Marjayoun and other points in southern Lebanon on Sunday, hours after the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah did the same against Beit Hillel, in northern Israel, amid an escalation of tensions between the parties.

“Air Force fighter jets attacked the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s launcher from which launches were detected from the Marjayoun area in southern Lebanon, and other terrorist infrastructure in the area,” they announced on their X social network account, referring to the Al Adeisa area, which has already been the scene of the exchange of aggression between the Hebrew State and the Lebanese armed group.

According to the Israeli military, Hezbollah launched some 30 rockets at Beit Hillel hours earlier, a figure that far exceeds the “dozen” announced by the Al Manar television channel, which is affiliated with the Lebanese party-militia.

The IDF has confirmed that the rockets, most of which were intercepted by the Israeli Air Defense, have not claimed any casualties.

This exchange of attacks comes amid an unprecedented escalation of hostilities in the Middle East with the death of Hezbollah commander Fuad Sukr and, above all, of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, closely linked to the militia of the Lebanese Shiite party, after an attack in Tehran attributed to Israel.
