Aug. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, has this Saturday “strongly” condemned the “brutal” attack perpetrated by the Islamist militia Al Shabaab on the beach of Lido in Mogadishu, which has cost the lives of at least 32 people and injured another 63, according to the latest report.
“The EU strongly condemns last night’s terrorist attack in Mogadishu, claimed by Al Shabaab. Our sincere condolences go to the families of the victims. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” Borrell’s office said in a statement.
“This brutal attack on civilians on Lido beach once again highlights the barbarity of Al Shabaab against its own compatriots,” he added.
Brussels also took the opportunity to express its solidarity with the internationally recognised Somali government and reiterated its “commitment” to supporting the authorities in the “fight against terrorism in all its forms”.
