Do you know when is the best time to buy a piece of technology? Never, because in a couple of weeks or a few months a newer, shinier generation will come out that will make the previous generation look outdated.
The same thing happens in the world of laptops. With each new generation of processors, these computers can do something more than the previous ones, they are more powerful, they can run that program or game better.
Until now, the choice when buying a laptop was something like this: A gaming laptop or a normal one? If you want a normal one, a Mac or a PC? And if it was a PC, with an Intel or AMD processor? And with whichever one, do you want an ultra-light one or a heavier format but with better performance? The choice is very difficult and in the end we end up looking for recommendations from experts (ahem, ahem) or acquaintances.
But now, in the PC world, a new gap has opened up that will make choosing a laptop even more complicated. The blame lies with Qualcomm, the mobile processor manufacturer that has just entered the world of laptop chips, and in what way.
From the hand of Microsoft and with several manufacturers such as Asus, Microsoft itself, Dell, HP or Lenovo among others, we now have computers with Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite processors.
I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that there are now Windows laptops with battery life on par with Apple’s famous MacBook Air. The bad news is that choosing a new Windows laptop will be even more complicated.
These laptops, as you can see from our reviews, work great, have great battery life, excellent performance and attractive designs. No, they are not gaming laptops, although you can run games on them.
It’s the summer of the foldable and everything points to it being the fall of the Snapdragon-powered laptop. Okay, we need a more catchy phrase, but after our first reviews of laptops with this processor, you may want to consider one of these when buying your next laptop:
And there are more options, besides the upcoming teams, which we will see at the next IFA in September in Berlin.
So, if you want to buy a new laptop, we’ve never had so many good options, which at the same time makes it increasingly difficult to choose one without the fear of “have I made the right choice?”
