On March 25, Tesla began investigating after customer complaints about unintentional hood openings on some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China, the NHTSA said on its website.
In mid-April, Tesla identified a deformation in the lock switch that could result in the driver not receiving information about the hood opening.
Tesla will offer a remote software update for approximately 1.85 million Model S, Model X and Model 3 vehicles produced from 2021 onwards, and Model Y vehicles produced from 2020 onwards.
The company faced a similar case in May this year, when it began the 125,227 vehicles recalled in the United States due to a malfunction in its seat belt warning system that could increase the risk of injury in a collision.
The recall at that time affected certain 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles.
Additionally, Tesla had recalled 200,000 Model S, X and Y vehicles in the United States in January due to a software malfunction that could obstruct drivers’ visibility when reversing.
