Google activates its fire front tracker in Spain with alerts for users

Google has extended its fire front tracker to 15 new countries, including Spain, a service that offers updated information and notifications so that people can follow the situation and stay safe.

The technology company uses tartificial intelligence technology and satellite images to provide users with up-to-date information on forest fires declared nearby via the Search Engine, Maps and push notifications.

In Search and Maps allow you to follow the evolution of the fronts, while notifications provide local information so that people can stay safe. These are transmitted in the language set on the device, so that foreign tourists can also understand the situation, and are superimposed on Google Maps route directions.

This service, which was first activated in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia, has been extended to 15 other countries in Europe and Africa, including Spain and Portugal, As reported in a press release.

The company has already mapped more than forty forest fires in Spain, Greece and Cyprus in July. According to its data, “In the first week of July alone, 1.4 million people received notifications, when fires broke out in Europe and Africa.”
