IDF calls for temporary evacuation of areas south of Khan Yunis to act against Hamas "terrorist" targets

Jul 27. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday called on the population of several neighborhoods in southern Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, to evacuate the area, claiming that the presence of Hamas “terrorist infrastructure” has turned the enclave into a “dangerous” place and that the Israeli Army “will act vigorously” against these targets.

This “early” warning “is carried out in order to reduce damage to the civilian population and keep them away from the combat zone,” the IDF said in a post on the social network X, in which it called on civilians affected by the warning to go “to the adapted humanitarian space in Al Mawasi.”

The Israeli armed forces have justified their decision on the basis of “precise intelligence information” revealing that “the terrorist organisation Hamas has located terrorist infrastructures in an area defined as humanitarian space” and “due to the numerous acts of terrorism and the launching of anti-aircraft missiles against the State of Israel from the southern neighbourhoods of Khan Yunis”.

The IDF will therefore continue to act against the Hamas terrorist organization, which uses Gaza residents as human shields for its terrorist activities and infrastructure, the IDF concluded.

The warning comes after Israeli forces said Friday that “about 100 terrorists” had been killed in a new offensive launched Monday against the city of Khan Yunis, arguing that the Islamic Resistance Movement was regrouping in the area three months after the military’s withdrawal.

In this context, more than 190,000 people have been displaced in Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah in just four and a half days due to the actions of the Israeli Armed Forces, according to data provided this Friday by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Hamas-controlled Gazan authorities have so far reported nearly 39,200 deaths, in addition to some 590 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks by settlers since October 7.
