Overture Maps Foundation presents a web tool to explore the data available to them

July 24 (Portaltic/EP) –

Overture Maps Foundation, the initiative that seeks to collaboratively develop an open and interoperable map database, has presented a tool to explore the data they already have available, even though it is not yet a map.

The web tool provided by the Overture Maps Foundation can be understood as an “X-ray data inspector”, because it is not yet a map, even though the initiative seeks to develop an alternative to Google Maps.

This is, however, a step forward in this objective, since this tool allows access to the data that they have collected and organized in layers: streets, foundations, buildings, divisions, places and transportation, as detailed. on his official blog.

The exploration tool is designed to be used in the browser, without the need for programming knowledge. It is currently in beta, to continue improving the project based on feedback from those who want to use it.

Overture Maps Foundation is an initiative announced in 2022 by the Linux Foundation, which seeks to collaboratively develop an open and interoperable map base with the support of companies such as Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and TomTom.
