The death toll from Israel’s offensive against the Gaza Strip following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions has risen to nearly 39,100 dead and more than 90,000 wounded, authorities in the enclave controlled by the Palestinian Islamist group said on Tuesday.
The Gazan Ministry of Health said in a statement posted on its Telegram account that 39,090 people have been confirmed dead and 90,147 wounded so far, before stating that “the Israeli occupation has committed eight massacres against families in Gaza” over the past day, with a toll of 73 “martyrs”, including 24 children, and 270 wounded.
He also stressed that “there are several victims under the rubble and on the roads,” adding that “ambulance and civil defence teams cannot reach them.” Gazan authorities have repeatedly stated that around 10,000 people are missing, so the death toll could be much higher than officially announced.
