Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced on Monday the seizure of a Togolese-flagged ship carrying 1.5 million liters of “contraband fuel” that was sailing in the Persian Gulf off the Iranian province of Bushehr and whose crew is made up of twelve foreign citizens, although the authorities have not specified which ones.
“This foreign ship flying the flag of the African country Togo, which was carrying 1.5 million liters of smuggled diesel fuel, was seized tonight following a court order,” the commander of the Second Naval Region of the Revolutionary Guard, Sardar Haider Henryian Megred, told the Iraqi news agency Tasnim.
In this regard, he said that the ship had been transferred to the facilities of the Bushehr Petroleum Products Company as part of the order issued by a court.
