Microsoft reportedly fired one of its diversity and inclusion teams in the US

As part of an unofficial opinion, the former employee said that this type of decision will not only be seen at Microsoft, but at a large number of companies in the sector, as he considered that DEI programs are no longer critical for companies as they were in 2020 and that is why they are reevaluating the commitments they made in that regard.

The exact number of people who have lost their jobs in this round of layoffs is not yet known, but Microsoft is one of the companies that has laid off the most people in the last two years.

Earlier this year, for example, it laid off 1,900 employees from its video game divisions and closed a pair of studios – Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin. It also laid off more than 10,000 people last year.

On the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion side, the company presented a racial equality initiative, through which it committed to increasing representation in the company, following the murder of George Floyd in 2020, and the Black Lives Matter protests.
