UK notes further Russian advances on Ukrainian front in Avdiivka

Jul 20 () –

British military intelligence has noted new advances by Russian forces on the Avdiivka-Pokrovsk front in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, which it now describes as Moscow’s main theatre of operations in its invasion of the country.

According to the latest assessment, published on social network X on Saturday, Russian forces “continue to gain ground north and west of the town of Ocheretyne” and are expanding their offensive towards the town of Pokrovsk.

London also has reports of “small advances” by Russia towards the city of Niu-York, the last bastion of Ukrainian forces on the former line of contact that separated the fighting against Russia prior to the invasion of Moscow.

The British Ministry of Defence, however, has not noticed any progress on another front in Donetsk, that of Chasiv Yar.

In this last scenario, the UK military intelligence takes note of recent reports of the cessation of Russian infantry assaults, which it attributes to “a tactical pause while they carry out probing attacks and reconnaissance activities.”
