“We will have a terrace with a view of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, where some broadcasts will be made. We have two teams of reporters with Live View and a cameraman to be able to cover the entire continent, since in the end there will be 41 venues in Paris where the sports will be taking place, and in the end it is a broadcast that will be carried out in 17 countries,” said Aboumrad.
According to YouTube figures, during Tokyo 2020, Claro Sports’ website received 600 million visits, in addition to 120 million hours watched, which marks a challenging milestone for both companies.
“The number we have is from the pandemic, so it is difficult to make predictions, but we believe that we must grow, especially through broadcasts on Smart TVs,” said the director of Claro Sports.
Since television is one of the most popular media for streaming, YouTube’s interface will have some special updates for this event. Aboumrad explained that there will be 10 simultaneous events on average and that is why four events will be able to be followed in parallel on the Claro Sports channel, so that users can choose which one to watch at that moment. YouTube called this feature Multiview.
In addition, more than 2,000 10-minute highlight clips will be produced so that those who were unable to follow the competitions live can view them on demand. And as part of the collaboration plan between the Google and América Móvil companies, the platform’s search engine will provide details of the medal table and the competition schedule by day and local time.
As a complement to the collaboration with Telcel, the telecommunications company will offer a special recharge plan, where unlimited streaming time within Claro Sports can be contracted for 15 pesos.
“It becomes a very familiar event. For example, for younger people, the Shorts format works very well, while on television they watch more extensive content,” said the director of Claro Sports.
In order for audiences in countries like Argentina, Colombia and Mexico to find their selected athletes in the competitions, the companies carried out data analysis work to be able to define which sports are most followed in each country, since the coverage of gymnastics that will be given from Mexico, by Alexa Moreno, is not the same as the audience that Egan Bernal will get in cycling, from Colombia.
