At least three people, including a child, have died when a Russian missile hit a residential area in the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv, President Volodymyr Zelesky said on Friday.
“Russian missile attack on Mykolaiv. A playground near an ordinary house. So far, five people are known to have been injured. The attack has killed three people, including a child,” Zelensky wrote on his account on the social network X.
The president has conveyed his “deepest condolences to family and friends” in the same post and has reproached that “Russia demonstrates every day with its terror that the pressure on it is not enough.” “This destruction of life must be stopped,” he urged.
In this regard, the president has demanded “new solutions” to support the defence of Ukraine, so that Russia can feel “the power of the world.”
This is not the first time that kyiv has urged the West to supply Ukrainian forces with new air defences to counter constant Russian missile and drone attacks that are taking civilian lives.
In fact, this very Friday, Zelensky asked his international allies to give his forces explicit permission to attack Russian territory with the weapons they are supplying him to destroy, specifically and according to his words, the launching positions of the projectiles that Russia launches against his country.
