ANI prepares its concessioned airports to meet passenger growth

The president of the National Infrastructure Agency, Francisco Ospina Ramírez, participated in the Latam Airport Summit II, an event that brings together national and international investors, financial institutions and aeronautical experts, and presented the concession projects that have been promoted in this sector.

Given the increase in demand for air transport in the country, which went from 41 million in 2019 to 49.4 million in 2023, and which could reach 93 million passengers, the president of the ANI was emphatic in pointing out that, with the interventions in the infrastructure and the improvement of at least six
concessioned airportsseeks to ensure the operational capacity, service levels and user experience of the air transport system.

“We are already implementing this airport expansion strategy; the pre-construction stage of the Rafael Núñez de Cartagena International Airport began in March and it is expected that in the first quarter of 2025 the works on the project will begin, which has an investment of $920,000 million that will allow the increase from 5.7 million to 8 million passengers per year,” indicated the president of the ANI.

Likewise, the new air terminal on the island of Saint Andrew It will be another airport infrastructure concession that is advancing in its award process, with an investment exceeding $1.01 billion, for the expansion to 13,500 m2 of the existing terminal and the reconstruction of 3,516 m2 of the
commercial areas, which will allow increase its capacity to handle 2.8 million passengers annually.

With the aim of optimizing the service to users of the air terminals, seven modernization, expansion and maintenance interventions are currently being carried out in El Dorado de Bogotá, as well as 17 improvement interventions at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport in Palmira.
