Far-right leader: ‘You can protest all you want, but the historical truth remains that Jordan is Palestine’

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador on Thursday after the leader of the far-right Party for Freedom (PVV), Geert Wilders, said that the “only Palestinian state is Jordan” in reaction to the Israeli parliament’s decision to reject future recognition of Palestine even through negotiations.
“Historic, no doubt. History also teaches us that the only true Palestinian state is Jordan. Not Judea and Samaria, but the now Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” Wilders wrote on his social media account X, giving rise to the controversy.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry announced the move to “strongly protest” statements by “far-right extremist Geert Wilders” for “denying the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to an independent and sovereign state on their national territory.”
In this regard, Amman has expressed that these statements “reflect a racist position” that seeks to resolve the Palestinian issue “at the expense of Jordan,” and has urged the Dutch government to condemn these words that “contradict the friendly and mutually respectful relations” between the two countries.
The Jordanian government has also said that Wilders has “violated” international law in his remarks which “reflect a culture of racist hatred that must be combated.”
In response to this message, Wilders replied that “they can protest all they want” but that “the historical truth remains that Jordan is Palestine.”
