In the fight against climate change and environmental degradation, cutting-edge technology has become an indispensable ally. Drones that fly over forests to detect illegal logging, artificial intelligence that analyses water quality through satellite images or devices that optimise energy consumption and the generation of renewable resources are just some examples of how technological innovation is transforming the way we address these challenges.
Technology is certainly a powerful tool that, when well managed, can help us build a cleaner planet. In our daily routines, we can incorporate smart appliances with efficiency certificates or devices that allow us to better manage energy.
Artificial intelligence, an ally
Added to this is the much talked about artificial intelligence, which also helps to decipher when certain devices are not being used and automatically turn them off, which directly results in reducing wasted electricity consumption and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
Beyond the home, technology is supporting companies in the fight against climate change. According to a recently published study on the perception of large companies regarding energy efficiency and the penetration of AI in the management and optimization of energy consumption (conducted by Smarkia and GfK), 93% of executives of large companies consider it important to promote energy efficiency to be more sustainable and reduce their environmental impact.
Sustainability in large companies
Sustainability is the most important reason for managers of large companies to make progress in terms of energy efficiency. In fact, “89% say they have taken measures in their company to reduce energy consumption, highlighting among them the integration of monitoring and management systems, the development of energy efficiency measures and the commitment to renewable energies.”
When it comes to artificial intelligence, 75% of the managers surveyed acknowledged the idea of hiring AI-based energy management systems, “especially valuing their usefulness in reducing energy bills (61%) or reducing the carbon footprint (58%).” There is no doubt that cutting-edge technology is the way to address the environmental challenges we face. Including cutting-edge technological solutions will make it easier for us to adapt to the regulations and specific needs of each place in the world.
