Israel bombs Hezbollah 'terrorist infrastructure' after rocket fire from Lebanon

Jul 17. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli army on Wednesday carried out new bombings against “terrorist infrastructure” of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, as part of the fighting unleashed after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions.

“Air Force fighter jets attacked Hezbollah terrorist infrastructures in the areas of Yarin, Aita al Chaab and Alma al Chaab in southern Lebanon overnight,” the Israeli military said in a brief statement posted on its website.

He also confirmed artillery attacks against Majdal and said that Hezbollah launched around 15 projectiles against the north of the country in the last few hours. “Some were intercepted by air defence systems and the rest fell in open areas, without damage or casualties,” he said.

Tensions have been on the rise in recent weeks, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently warning that the Israeli army “is prepared for a very powerful action” on the border with Lebanon, while Hezbollah’s number two, Naim Qassem, has maintained that an expansion of the conflict would lead to “devastation and destruction” in Israel.

For his part, the leader of the Lebanese group, Hassan Nasrallah, said last week that if Hamas and Israel reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Shiite militia-party will also “unconditionally” end its attacks from Lebanon’s southern border, as several senior members of the party had expressed in the previous days.
