PETRONAS and the Sarawak Government welcomed the contributions of local vendors and service providers to the growth of the oil and gas industry in Sarawak.

47 local vendors received their commemorative plaque from PETRONAS Vice President of Procurement Rashidah Alias ​​at the 3rd Sarawak Vendor Commemoration Ceremony held here today.

Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg witnessed the event. Also present were Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian and PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong.

In his speech, the Prime Minister applauded the vendors for their successes and urged them to become strong regional Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) players that can contribute significantly to the nation’s success on the global stage.

Datuk Ir. Bacho, for his part, encouraged all parties to jointly create a strong OGSE ecosystem.

“Over the past 50 years, PETRONAS has cultivated strong partnerships with the Sarawak Government, PACs and local Oil and Gas Equipment and Service Providers (OGSE) to strengthen Sarawak’s oil and gas ecosystem. We are committed to being a strategic partner to Sarawak towards greater trust and mutually beneficial relationships and I believe our collaborative efforts are instrumental in driving both the growth and resilience of Sarawak’s OGSE sector,” he said.

Over the past 50 years, PETRONAS has cultivated strong partnerships with the Government of Sarawak, PACs and local oil and gas equipment and service providers.

Datuk Ir. Bacho also urged OGSE’s local suppliers to embrace sustainability in their operations and align with PETRONAS’ vision towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. “It is timely that we work together leveraging our collective strengths, expertise and resources to build a resilient ecosystem and drive the industry forward to achieve a sustainable future in a fair and responsible manner,” he said.

To date, 72 Sarawak suppliers have been commemorated by PETRONAS as part of its ongoing efforts to support local service providers in Sarawak.

PETRONAS and the Government of Sarawak remain committed to instilling values ​​that promote economic growth, while ensuring the resilience of the OGSE ecosystem.
