US calls it "irresponsible" for Russia to blame the White House for the shooting of Trump

16 Jul. () –

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has called “irresponsible” statements made by the Kremlin blaming the White House for creating the “atmosphere” for the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally this weekend.

“Obviously these are incredibly irresponsible comments by the Kremlin, part of a series of irresponsible comments that we’ve seen them make. And of course they’re not true at all,” Miller told a news conference after being asked about the matter.

He also reaffirmed his condemnation of this attack and any type of political violence, and that his job as diplomats of the country is to “promote the values” of the country throughout the world, for which he reported that Secretary of State Antony Blinken has asked to “transmit” the values of “humanity” and “decency.”

For his part, the spokesman for the UN Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, has reminded the media that “very few countries are immune to political violence” and that there is a “rise” in rhetorical and verbal violence, which is why he has expressed his concern about it. It should be noted that the Secretary General himself, António Guterres, has already condemned the shooting and sent his “best wishes” to Trump.

A few days earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the attack on Trump and said it was “clear” that his life was in danger after the numerous attempts to oust him from the presidential race for the White House. Although he did not believe that the US government was behind it, he did believe that it had created the “atmosphere” of confrontation necessary for it to happen.
