At least 13 people have been killed and 70 wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a Gaza school serving as a shelter for displaced people in Nuseirat, in the centre of the Palestinian enclave, medical sources told the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The Abu Oreiban school was affiliated with the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), according to these sources.
Medical sources at Al Awda hospital, where the wounded are receiving treatment, have also confirmed this to the Palestinian media outlet ‘Filastin’, which is close to Hamas.
The death toll from Israeli army attacks on the Gaza Strip has now risen to nearly 38,600, while the number of wounded has now exceeded 88,880, a day after the deadly attack on a displaced persons camp in Al Mawasi, near Khan Yunis, where 90 people were killed.
The Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health reported on Sunday that 38,584 people have already died as a result of Israeli attacks, while another 88,881 have been injured.
The Israeli army launched its offensive against the Strip following the attacks on October 7, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 240 kidnapped. In addition to these casualties, more than 560 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks carried out by settlers.
