Vietnam aims to shape seven maritime economic clusters by 2030, with the aim of building the country into a strong maritime country, and promoting sustainable development in relevant regions, sectors and fields.

The information is collected in Decision 892/QD-TTg of July 26, 2022 of the Prime Minister to approve a project on the development of maritime economic clusters associated with the construction of strong economic centers based on the sea by 2030.

The project aims to build seven marine economic clusters in the next 10 years in advantageous coastal areas and develop three to four leading maritime economic centers in the Southeast Asian region.

The groups will give priority to services and products with added value; they will attract large companies and high-tech projects to contribute to green growth; and will protect the marine ecological environment as well as the marine economy.

They are also expected to contribute to consolidating and reinforcing national defense and security in seas and islands.
