Aug. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least three soldiers have died and three others have been wounded this Sunday in Syria due to an Israeli missile attack.
Military sources quoted by the Syrian state news agency, SANA, have reported that the attack occurred around 8:50 p.m. local time (7:50 p.m. Spanish peninsular time).
The missiles would have been launched from Lebanese airspace, from southeast of Beirut, and would have targeted rural areas of the country’s capital, Damascus, and the coastal city of Tartus.
The air defense means would have shot down some of the missiles, those that could not be intercepted caused, in addition to the victims, material losses. However, the military source has not given more details about the objectives or damage of the attack, nor the identities of the victims.
For its part, Israel has not commented on these attacks in Syria, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has indicated that the Israeli attack targeted a Syrian Army air defense base in the Abo Afsa area, five kilometers south of Tartus. In addition, according to the monitoring of the attacks carried out by SOHR in this base, Iranian militias are often found.
Likewise, SOHR has remarked that this Israeli attack is the 19th in Syrian territory since the beginning of the year.
