Patients Colombia called on the National Government to take the necessary measures in response to the crisis facing the health system, especially with regard to their financial situation.

In a statement, the movement that brings together 198 organizations in the sector outlined the effects that this problem could have. In this regard, it stressed that if it is not corrected immediately, The health system would run out of resources in September of this year.
To support these statements, Pacientes Colombia pointed out that, according to a study carried out by the firm Sectorial.co, by the end of 2023, The EPS were left with liquid resources of technical reserves for 7.5 billion pesoswhich will be used by these entities to cover part of the cash shortage in 2024.

“We are concerned about the current and future health situation in Colombia. We are not talking about a power outage, but about thousands of lives that will be lost due to the system’s inability to meet the needs of citizens,” said Denis Silva, spokesman for the movement.

According to the group, if there is a decrease in the offer of services, The number of patients who will not be able to access medical care would increase necessary, especially in rural and disadvantaged areas.
